Madden 20 player ratings: 5 players who were snubbed from the Madden 99 club

Madden NFL 20 revealed the players who have earned the game’s most significant honor, a rating of 99. Every year a select few NFL players are given a near-perfect rating of 99 in Madden, which means there are inevitably just as many snubs.

Madden NFL 20 will officially hit the shelves on Aug. 2, and reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes will grace the cover after fundamentally redefining the quarterback position. If you want a better gaming experience, A great shortcut is to buy Madden 20 coins from the trusted RMT suppliers in the market. Now that would make him a pretty easy shoo-in for a 99 rating in Madden, except, well, Madden doesn’t think a quarterback who can throw no-look passes with either hand is worth that rating.

No quarterback is rated 99 in Madden 20. The video game franchise announced its “Madden 99 club” for the upcoming season, and only four players cut.

Those four players are Aaron Donald, DeAndre Hopkins, Bobby Wagner, and Khalil Mack. Since Donald is one of the best defensive tackles in NFL history, Wagner is the best middle linebacker in the league, Mack eats offensive players alive for dinner every Sunday, and Hopkins’s hands are probably made of a substance the government is dying to investigate.

And while there’s no denying those four players are elite, there are a handful of guys who can argue they deserved to be rated just as high.

But some so many other players have a case to be rated 99. Madden updates its ratings during the regular season, so they’ll have a chance to stick it to the raters by showing why they should be in the club, too.

Here are the five biggest snubs from the rated 99 club in Madden NFL 20.

  • Tom Brady

Tom Brady

Yes, he’s 41. But this point, Brady should just be grandfathered into the Madden 99 club. He has won six Super Bowls, four Super Bowl MVPs, and three NFL MVP awards. In fairness to the Madden team, however, the ratings are based, in large part, on physical attributes and Brady’s lack of athleticism has typically kept him from the game’s highest rating.

  • Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes

Speaking of cover stars, it’s rather shocking Patrick Mahomes isn’t in the 99 club. The only argument is that the Madden team is waiting to see if Mahomes has a sophomore slump. But considering ratings are adjusted week to week, what’s the worry? Mahomes won the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. What else does the guy have to do?

  • Von Miller

Von Miller

Miller has been a regular to Madden’s 99 club since winning Super Bowl MVP in 2016. He fell short this year. Bobby Wagner was rewarded for being the most consistent middle linebacker in football. Miller should be equally credited for his edge-rushing skills. And while he didn’t have as many flashy plays as Mack last season, Miller didn’t exactly have a down-year with 14.5 sacks.

  • Fletcher Cox

Fletcher Cox

Before we make our case for Cox, let’s give an honorable-mentions shoutout to Luke Kuechly, Julio Jones and Drew Brees, each of whom could have been added to the 99 club without much fuss. We get it. It isn’t sexy to give a defensive tackle a 99 rating. But Fletcher Cox proved himself to be one of the NFL’s top-five players last season and, perhaps, the best defensive player in the NFL not named Aaron Donald. According to Pro Football Focus, Cox ranks behind only Donald in pass-rush grade, total pressures and pass-rush win since 2015.

  • Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown

No player has a better argument for the 99 club than Antonio Brown. Yes, he had a dramatic fallout with the Pittsburgh Steelers and will play for a new team this coming season. But Brown held a 99 rating on Madden 19 throughout the 2018-2019 season. He was one of only two players to do so, alongside Donald. There’s no reason last year’s cover star should have fallen out of the 99 club.
